I originally had a different post planned for today but had to postpone it when I heard this album. I jumped out of the shower to write this as soon as I heard the first three tracks. After listening to it all the way through I can confirm I've never listened to an album quite like this one. It runs for 13 tracks and is complete with heartbreaking songs and gut-wrenching voice memos.
The first three tracks all go together seamlessly to make one song, "She Wrote It About You?", "Broken Girls", and "Broken Boys". It's extremely hard to pick a favorite off this album but it would have to be "Broken Girls", it has a fun beat to it, but when you listen and dig deep in the lyrics it's actually quite the jab. It features her vocals heavily and make it a perfect song to yell out. If you only listen to 1 thing off this album, make it "Broken Girls".
If you skip down a few track you'll land on "It's Not Okay What I Did", "Perfect Day (A True Story)", and "This Isn't Fun For Me". These three track will rip your heart right out of your chest and bleed it dry. The two voice memos before and after "Perfect Day (A True Story)" are bursting at the seams with emotions and make you feel her pain so hard. "Perfect Day (A True Story)" is story-telling at its' finest, it takes you through the day and paints you such an intimate picture. By the end you want to cry for her, you can hear the rasp and absolute raw emotion in Gabbie's voice as she describes how her perfect day came ripping down into absolute ashes. It left me in utter shock while listening to it.
Every single track on this album is masterfully crafted and they all seamlessly transition into each other to make it so sonically cohesive and pleasing to listen to. The production on each track is an absolute masterpiece and needs to be talked about. Each one provides callbacks to the other songs and the album cover itself to really drive the story as well. If you have 20 minutes to take out of your day, make it to listen to this album cover to cover. Even the last track loops around perfectly to flow back into the first. It is something that I can already tell will be widely under appreciated for its artistry.
You can find 2WAYMIRROR anywhere you find music including Spotify, iTunes, and Youtube.
