This morning when I woke up I was treated to not 1, but 2 new trailers for projects I'm very excited for. The first trailer I had the pleasure of seeing was for the highly anticipated 3rd season of Stranger Things. The kids aren't so little anymore as we get a look into their crazy summer. The second trailer was for Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. The trailer gives a glimpse into 1969 Hollywood and stars some pretty incredible actors.
The trailer for Stranger Things was packed with everything audiences wanted. There appears to be a time jump in season 3 to the summertime. In the trailer you could see that the friendships established in the prior two seasons were stronger than ever, especially fan favorites Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Steve (Joe Keery). The duo was seen interacting several times throughout the trailer and even met with criticism from Steve's presumed co-worker "how many children are you friends with?". Along with the pre-established friendships came one that fans were dying for, Max (Sadie Sink) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). The two were seen dancing around a bedroom, going to the mall, and just generally sticking together. It'll be such a good addition to the show to see the interaction between the two. This friendship sent twitter fans into a very happy state, freaking out over it. With all the good that came in the trailer we still have to remember it's Stranger Things so there was a share of bad things. We could see each character in flashes looking scared and beat up. One scene that fans particularly latched onto was of a very bruised Steve having a needle shoved into his neck. The most jarring image however was of a very nasty looking demogorgon that looks to be ready to pounce any minute. One thing's for sure this season has not lost any buzz around it and fans are eagerly waiting for July 4th.
Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is a mix of the fictitious and the true story. As seen in the trailer the fictional characters, actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) are searching for work in a Hollywood they hardly even recognize anymore. The movie takes place at the peak of "hippy Hollywood". The trailer opens with a black and white "interview" scene. Not much context to the movie is really provided, just enough to keep you interested. Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth's determination to make it in the industry finds itself wrapped up in the real events that led to the murder of Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) by Charles Manson's followers. From the opening of the trailer you can see the distinction that is Tarantino. It'll be very interesting to see how the movie turned out considering this is Tarantino's first movie broken away from the Weinstein's. Luke Perry also had a small role in the movie and this will be the last film he worked on before his death. This movie is set to premiere at Cannes, 25 years after Pulp Fiction first premiered there. It is expected to have theatrical release on July 26th and people are speculating this could earn Leo his second Oscar.
